About Our Club
The Syrian American Club in Washington, D.C. was founded in 1992 with the intention of bringing together members of the Syrian community in the area. 2026 marked the 31-year anniversary of the Club.
The Syrian American Club is a non-profit, social, cultural, non-political and non-religious entity. It is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt, 501(c)(7) Social and Recreational Club.
The Club has the following two objectives:
- To help preserve the common social and cultural heritage of the members and their families.
- To assist the members and their families in dealing with the professional, social, and cultural issues associated in their new environment, particularly upon initial arrival in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

A five-member Board of Directors (board@washingtonsac.org) governs the Syrian American Club. The operation of the Club is executed through the Executive Council (council@washingtonsac.org) which is elected by the membership and reports to the Board of Directors. All members of the Board and Council are volunteers.
